Vintage Ludwig Drums
The 1973 Ludwig catalog featured the debut of Concert Tom drum set outfits, a rather obvious answer to the demand of louder drums. Concert toms simply became any normal shell with the bottom resonant head removed. This new layout eliminated the length of resonance to the drum and projected an immense volume to the initial attach. Concert toms were found on all model drums offered by Ludwig. The first models to debut the concert tom setup was the Quadra-Plus and Octa-Plus, a wood shell set consisting of drums sizes catering to pitch range. Concert toms were also evident in the Stainless Steel and the Vistalite drum line.
